A number of long time residents were evicted because they did not actually own the land their houses were on. I believe that non-Mexican citizens are not allowed to own land, only buildings. |

I believe you can get a very long-term lease on the land, but some of the deals are a bit smokey in the details. A trust fund established for 50 years (with the title held by a Mexican bank) can own the land, and make you the beneficiary of the land. Of course, that is until the next government comes in and changes the rules again. |
