Default Any info on Yamaha diesel o'boards?

Does anyone have a source of information on the Yamaha diesel outboards that
were sold for a while in the United States? I can't find much about them.
Why were they discontinued in the USA? Were there problems? I would sure
like to get one to use as a backup motor. Are they available in Canada?

Thank you.

Not Yamaha - Yanmar. Yanmar also makes one for Tohatsu.

All the best,

Oh cripes, Australia of all places. Those engines run upside down.

Ask Karen, she knows.

So?? just put a bigger prop on & use then for air boats:-)

They were popular many years ago but always very pricey, they were also
popular around the pacific islands on fishing boats (those long skinny
island type boats).

The engine itself is a gem really clever I suspect they still use the
tohatsu leg.
