Anyone recognize the source: "The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and cooperation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life." Barack Obama, lying to the nation when he delivered his speech to the Democratic National Convention? Oh my! Aren't YOU bitter! What's wrong? Worried that the Dems have a guy who can actually speak and weave together ideas like a big boy? Someone who might kick the jambs out from under your shack in a few years? You kow what bothers me about him? He is more white than black in a purely genetic sense. One of his parents is white and I believe that his other parent is also partially white. So with a smaller genetic portion of him being black, why doesn't he call himself white? Or even if he is purely half black and white, why doesn't he call himself white? Oh, I wish I hadn't asked that. :) Well, there are plenty of possibilities, among them: 1. He doesn't look Caucasian. 2. He understands that historically in this country and in "white Africa," "mixed" folks were discriminated against, as either being "black" or "something else," and wants to remember those who got the short end of the stick because of their skin color. 3. He isn't interested in his "racial" genetics. If that was true, then he would just call himself a male human being if it wasn't all that important to him. 4. His success as a "black man" really ****es off those whiteys who are overtly or covertly racist. There's little as satisfying as "in your face" success. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that most of the buttwipes in my newsgroup dumpster filter *can't stand* the fact that Obama, a black man, is a resounding success despite his background and because of his achievements. How's them apples? Like I said - I don't care - it was just a curiosity question based on his background. I have nothing against him in any case. In short, doesn't matter to me. Later, Tom |
