I was watching a story on all the young Americans who come over to Windsor Ontario to gamble at the casinos and drink because of a younger age limit (19 vs 21) . Most of the kids were well behaved although enjoying themselves. Then some yahoo jumps in front of the camera ... yells that he's from Ohio, and drops his pants to moon the camera. I wondered if he was related to you. Was it filmed on November 2nd? Maybe that's why the Democrats' reliance on the "young vote" to carry them didn't quite pan out, eh? |
"NOYB" wrote in message ink.net... snip My beef with the Canadians is that they've let the nutty liberals take over their government. However, your new leader, Martin, seems like a somewhat reasonable fellow...as evidenced by his decision to remove that crazy MP bitch (Parrish) from the Liberal caucus. Up here it's the Reform/Cdn Conservative/Conservative Party of Canada who seem to be the nutty ones. Thought you'd be happy that Carolyn Parrish got expelled from the Liberal caucus. The Liberal Party has had a tight grip on power thanks to the years of Brian Mulroney's Conservatives. He ****ed us off so much that after his second term, only two members of his party were voted back into parliament. Can you imagine if only two Republicans sat in your senate or house of representatives. George W. better walk carefully. |

A similar thing happened in 1994 when the Republicans regained the House and Senate for the first time in 4 decades...all because the American voter hated Hillary. Bill was smart enough to keep her out of sight when '96 rolled around. If anybody considers her a viable candidate for President in '08, they're insane. She's absolutely loathed by nearly 60% of this country. That's an amazingly shocking "hate" number for a former first lady. Can you imagine if only two Republicans sat in your senate or house of representatives. George W. better walk carefully. Bush has long coat tails. He managed to do the unthinkable: get Daschle ousted from the Senate. If you didn't notice, Republican Congressional candidates ran *towards* Bush in '04...not away from him. |
"Harry Krause" wrote in message It seems to me that your provincial governments are far more powerful and self-determining than our state governments...or am I off base? -- Two provinces sure do. Ontario has about a third of the seats in parliament and Quebec has about a quarter. What they want pretty much gets done. Quebec especially seems to be the tail that wags the dog. The Atlantic provinces, with their dwindling population and economic oportunities usually end up like stray dogs at the banquet table...waiting for scraps to be thrown our way. |

There's too much French influence. They did control most of this area until the British eventually won. We were known as Acadia ..or Acadie.
