Karen,
I don't know the range of that boat / motor / fuel combo. But judging from the stuff missing, and the condition of the Captain, my first thought (unless you can see your ex-husband killing the Captain and hijacking your son to Cuba) is piracy, sorry to say. -W "karen" wrote in message om... things unknown/not found: not found: 1 "Guest" epirb, 2 radios, 1 gps, 4-5 additional life jackets, 1-2 float cushons, lotsa non-perishable food, lotsa bait & containers, at least 4 sleeping bags, 2 tackle boxes, rods, etc., |

karen,
I've been following this story closely in a forum over at floridasportsman.com. My heart goes out to you and your family. I'm as baffled as anybody as to what happened. I know the FBI took over the case in the first 12 hours of finding the boat, but have not released any info on the toxicology reports. Have you been in touch with them? Have they provided any recent info? Did you talk to the dad before the trip? Most of the threads on floridasportsman.com have a few dozen messages. floridasportsman.com's forum also keeps track of how many times someone opens the thread to read it. Usually, that happens about 100 times. The thread about the boat your son was on in the Southwest forum has 434 messages and 20,486 views! The most recent post was 3 days ago. Everyone is obviously following it very closely. However, please be open-minded to all possibilities. Clams brought up a decent point, and I'm sure he didn't mean to hurt anybody. Nevertheless, the circumstances certainly do warrant asking the question: "was the dad capable of running off with the son because he was upset with you having custody?" |

That's what I meant.
Looking at all the evidence (as reported), I find it hard to come up with a "better case" scenario to hold out some hope. I've also been following the reports, and quite frankly don't like anything I'm seeing. My heart goes out to you and your family - especially this time of season. -W "NOYB" wrote in message news ![]() Clams brought up a decent point, and I'm sure he didn't mean to hurt anybody. Does anyone know of the condition of the throttles. Were they opened up like
they were running hard or were they idle? told throttle open, but that could'be happened in tossing.? key in
ignition....off, manual. i don't believe they ever made it to the wreck, no boats that were there saw or heard anything. i don't even know if they were really plan on going there. a close friend & boating buddy of gary's said he was never known to keave a detailed itinerary "Greg Boyles" wrote in message news:M1GGb.478759$275.1377965@attbi_s53... Throttle to open (assuming a natural cause) would be more likely to happen
on beach impact upside down than by mere "sea tossing". Key "off" is kind of odd, as tossing or beaching impact seems unlikely to change key position. But, depending on the weight of whatever was on the key fob, if there was a key fob, introduces a variable there too. I understand that to us it's a mystery............. to you it's the world. ![]() -W "karen" wrote in message om... told throttle open, but that could'be happened in tossing.? key in ignition....off, manual. i don't believe they ever made it to the wreck, no boats that were there saw or heard anything. i don't even know if they were really plan on going there. a close friend & boating buddy of gary's said he was never known to keave a detailed itinerary |

This event was the subject of a few news reports here in central Illinois.
As I recall, the owner (Gary Lisk ??) was from our area. Haven't seen any thing further until the recent posts in this NG. I don't pretend to be an expert on boats or the Gulf of Mexico. I've been operating small fishing boats on inland waters for more than 30 years. Over those years I've spent a few weeks in Florida during winter months. While there, my only boating has been on charters, with me just a passenger. This given, my two-cents worth are simplistic; the facts just do not fit well with any conventional scenario. Whatever has happened to this boat and the 3 men aboard is bizarre. At this date, I don't think there is much value in looking at this event with conventional wisdom; imagination is now the most essential element of this investigation. Sorry if I'm just stating the obvious, but maybe that will help. I wish I could do more. |
