It looks like the IBC site only count dead that are reported by official sources, morgues, hospitals, etc. If I'm not mistaken, Muslim custom says a body should be buried within 24 hours of death. If somebody gets their head blown off as a side effect of some battle, there's little reason to take them to a hospital. It pretty clear what the cause of death was, there's no money for doing it, and really, nobody cares. So, as custom dictates, the body is buried in the family plot, by the family, and nobody official reports it. In this case, which is probably fairly common, the person doesn't end up on IBCs site because it wasn't reported by any official source, but the person is still dead. bb |
