Enough politics. Here's a tale about an interesting island, once owned by the guy who informally discovered a well know celebrity. When we visited a few months ago, we found evidence of giants....... Wallace Island Great story, Chuck. Wallace Island is one of my favourite destinations in the Gulf Islands (although it can get REALLY crowded in the summer!). Last time I was there, I saw something you didn't mention. There was a shelter that from far off looked like it was in Bad Shape: bits of the ceiling dangling down... but when I got there to look more closely, the "ceiling" bits were driftwood, each with a boat/crew name on it. There were hundreds. No, thousands! It was an erie feeling to go into the shelter and be surrounded by the spirits of all those boats! I don't know what the "rules" were - if you could just hang your driftwood wherever you could, but there were many piled up around the walls as well - I got the feeling someone (Parks people?) "rotated" them so everybody got a chance to be displayed. Did you see this? Lloyd Sumpter "Far Cove" Catalina 36 |
