In his debate, Bush clearly stated that the all volunteer military is working just fine and there will be no draft. I am willing to bet that there will be a draft in Bushes term (if he lasts the full term). How about $100.00 per bet. I'll tenativly go with ten of you ($1,000.00). I will send my money to a third party that is trusted, or any method that will insure safety for both of us. If you agree to the bet, I will send first (money order, cashiers check or whatever works). The third party will let you know the funds are there and when they recieve your money the bet is on. Lets see how confident you really are in your new president. Dixon -- There will be no draft under Bush, just as there would have been no draft if Kerry had won. All the services, with the current exception of the Army, have more applicants than billets. The Army has only recently had problems meeting enlistment quotas. There are other methods to entice the recruitment and retention of qualified people such as enlistment bonuses, re-enlistment bonuses and delayed entry programs that will be deployed in lieu of a draft. Remember Kerry stating that he would increase the size of the Army by some number of divisions? I think that was part of his downfall. If the military is used the way it is supposed to be used, and not for nation building or law enforcement, the technology advantage enjoyed by the US military more than makes up for numbers. Implementation of a draft in the current world situation would be political suicide for both sides of Congress. Eisboch |

What happens when we use the military for nation building and law enforcement, as we are at the present time? Unless this changes in the future- and it won't for the next four years, we lose the advantage of our technologies. Our most effective technologies were designed to defeat sophisticated weapons systems rather than individual criminal terrorist *******s hiding among a population of innocents. |
