Hello again. Ok, I've completely winterized my boat, (engines, head,
fresh water, shower drain/pump, etc.). While winterizing the head (I use the method of removing hose from hull seawater, inserting end of hose into gallon of antifreeze and flushing head), I looked at the macerator system and it dawned on me that I have never did anything to winterize the macerator system. I never really use the system (illegal in Great Lakes), but I do test it for a second or two during the summer. There is a manual 2-way lever with 3 large, thick, rubberized hoses (probably 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch dia. This level controls putting discharge to tank or overboard. On the macerator motor there is an additional white hose maybe 3/4 to 1 inch dia with comes off the bottom of the motor and loops up to the side of the boat hull for discharge. I'd hate to remove any of these hoses (if you know what I mean!), but should I be doing something to winterize all of these extra hoses? For what it's worth, I've had the boat for 4 years now in the northeast (sub zero winters) and have not had a problem yet. Thanks for opinions! BD |
