Don, Although many Canadians might not like Americans very much right now, deep down I know that you guys have no permanent feelings of hatred towards us... nor do we have it towards you. I also know that the strong dislike you harbor could never evolve into what we saw on 9/11. Conversely, Muslims are easily swayed into committing unspeakable acts of violence against non-Muslims...going so far as to stab and shoot kids in a Russian school just because the kid asked for a drink. When I talk about nuking a Middle Eastern country, I say it with all seriousness and gravitas. When I talk about bombing Nova Scotia, I say it just to get a rise out of you. Who has feelings of 'hatred' or 'strong dislike'? Just consider me as the busy body cousin who thinks it's his duty to save you from yourself. Our ties with New England go back to the days when we were all colonies. As a matter of fact, my home town was founded to protect new England from the French. I can't speak for all Canadians, but can tell you that Americans are always welcome in the Maritimes. Did you know that before 9/11 Halifax was a favorite R&R destination for your navy ships. On the Coral Sea's last trip, the captain asked the crew where on the east coast they wanted to R&R. They voted Halifax because they rembered their visit a year or two previous. |
