topic. Of the 41,390 remaining some were off topic but not caught in the filter. Others started on topic but degenerated into off topic. Items in para 2 notwithstanding, only 45.3% of posts in rec.boats are on topic. Everyone knows that Bert is much worse than me at posting O/T garbage. A lot of the posters come & go...change names etc. My total would be for the entire sample period. Some with lower totals may have blitzed the newsgroup over a much shorter period. I say produce statistics that show the average amount of O/T topics per day newsgroup visited. |

Additional facts: 5 of the top 7 OT posters are left wing nut cases. They accounted for nearly 22,000 of the nearly 29,000 OT posts made by the top 7. Krause alone had almost 8,000 OT posts by himself. Krause, Kanter, 'asskisser, Gould and jps. There lies your problem. ;-) Those folks have way too much idle time on their hands. |

I know a guy who can do this with a fair amout of accuracy. He wrote a script to use with Xnews reader that will even count the number of times you use any particular word. I, for instance, have a propensity to use the words propensity, however and the phrase, "having said that".
