Idiot rubbernecking boaters...

I was just watching the news before heading out to the marina and
there was a story about the Great White that is visiting Senator
Kerry's island off Nantucket.

They had pictures of three idiots, in a 17 foot Boston Whaler Sport,
pulling up next to the shark and one freakin' idiot -

you will love this,

TRIED TO PET THE SHARK!!!!!

Honest to god, the bozo leaned OUT of the boat, over the side and
tried to pet the shark.

The shark was getting ****ed too as the boat had it pinned between it
and the shore.

The only thing that would have made the story better is if the shark
came up out of the water, grabbed the idiot and had a leisurely lunch.

These things can leap to amazing heights you know.

Take care.

That reminds me of the killer whale playing around in a harbout out british
Columbia way. The thing stays close to shore and plays with the boaters.
Some people do pet it.

Bilge- I was on the SS Curtiss on an exercise with Marine Air Wingers anchored
off San Clemente Island back in the late 80's. The lads got "shot in the ass"
with fishing from our stern.

One afternoon they hooked into a sand shark about 3.5-4 feet long, and managed
to haul it aboard, despite the 30 foot freeboard.

So every one of them "farmboys" came crowding around to see this critter...the
circle got tighter and tighter, the shark starts spinning around and around.

I took in the scene and declared:

"Umm, you gentlemen DO realize that this thing is scared and ****ed and has
TEETH"?

Just as I said "teeth", the shark got the chain leader in it's mouth, chomped
down, and you could hear it's teeth breaking and snapping on the links of the
chain.

You never so many Marines make a "tactical withdrawal" so quickly.

I s'pose someone doinked it a few times with a fire axe...couldn't hang around
for the epilogue, had to go on watch.
