That's about the price of a brand new 18' Bayliner.

Don't buy a 4-cylinder. Period. You will not be happy.

I agree. I have a 18.5' Reinell with the V-P 4.3GL/Cobra SX combo. Aside from a pesky fuel pump relay, the engine/outdrive have been fantastic and rock solid. However, for that size of boat I am very glad I have the V-6. I rode in a 4 Cyl model and it seemed to really lack power. I have no problem pulling a full sized adult even with a loaded boat (usually there are 4 adults and 2 kids, plus a couple of coolers). However, if you are mostly using it for fishing and don't need much power out of the hole, you might be fine with the 4 cyl. For my family, we definitely couldn't make it with the 4 though. Hope this helps. -Jeff |

Glastron makes a good product. Regarding the volvo / Merc drive: The
volvo is less expensive to purchase initially. The Volvo's repair parts cost a lot more. Both will give you good service if you take care of the components. Make sure the out drive is in good condition, water pumps are ok, and bellows, hydraulics and gimbals are good. Insure the drive housing is not corroded and all the shafts are straight. Get a professional marine tech to survey the engine, steering and electrical. A lower unit will cost upwards of $5000.00 if you need a new one installed. $2500 for a rebuild. You should have the manifolds and risers replaced before you use the boat. ($600.) I think the price is a little high on a 7 year old boat. (soon to be 8 years old.) Capt.
