do the same when asked.

I figured as much Chuck.

Like religious freedom? So, when push comes to shove, which allegiance is
more important, to God *or* to country?

I did exactly what my country asked me to do. I had a couple of easy outs,
including
a group of anti-war people in Vancouver BC offering me a job in a cabinet shop
and the right connections to become a "landed immigrant". It was allegiance to
my country that inspired me to stay here, work within the system, etc.

I'm sure it would have been much more herioc to go AWOL from the National
Guard, attend college darned near forever,
or what not.

So, Jim, What exactly were the freedoms we were fighting for in
Vietnam? What was the purpose of that war?

We were there to make sure the North Vietnamese didn't invade Avon Lake,
Ohio.

We today have a president of the United States who looks like he is the
son of Howdy Doody or Alfred E. Newman, who isn't smarter than either of
them, who is arrogant about his ignorance, who is reckless and
incompetent, and whose backers are turning the United States into a pariah.

What, me worry?

To stem the flow of communism in SEA, South East Asia, if you can't
remember. The threat of communism taking over the world was real in the
30's, 40's and 50's. There was a race in all things political and military.
The American way of life was being challenged and threatened.

You can say what you will now but, at the time of the Vietnam war the Soviet
threat was real.

Say what? How about George W and his pardners threatening 'the American
way of life'? You seem to accept that willingly.

I know, it is a conservative site so it must be discounted by such as
yourself and hairy and asskisser.

It makes tremendous sense to discount people who cannot address issues without
invoking personalities.

From any side.

Did you know that it's usually the losing party that gets involved in name
calling?
