A fellow in our group put 1 Yakima on the cab of the truck and then he
welded a rear rack that slides into his receiver hitch. This way he can
still use his bed cover or put a cap on the back and the rack system stays
the same. I have seen these rear racks for sale but he made his much
cheaper -- good option if you or someone you know can weld. On the top of
this rear rack he had a thin piece of stainless bent with 4 "waves" in it
that will hold 4 yaks on their sides. Only downside is the tailgate will not
open with the rack in place. This is not a problem with the bed cover on but
could be a big problem with a cap in place.

How are you guys carrying your yaks on pick up trucks? Too long to put in
the bed of the truck, I am thinking of getting one of those "ladder racks"
that people use to carry ladders around. Any suggestions?

Thanks-
Kristopher
