One of the most important, if not the most important, requirements of any
officer leading men in combat is to be there for them at all times. In some eyes abandoning your men after only four months of command is an unforgivable act. To leave your men simply because you can is not an honerable act to most career leaders in our military. It would be honorable to go if one was seriously wounded.... but to go because of a few scratches is a serious breach of leadership. Leaders look after the troops. Butch |
