Default Bayliner Capri

It's a popular pasttime to 'poo-poo' Bayliners. I bought a junker '86
Bayliner Capri with a Force 50 outboard. It had been sitting uncovered
under a tree for five years. I replaced a floor board, put a new coil in
the engine, and have been running it for four years without a problem. As
someone else said, enjoy it 'til it breaks, then replace it! You might even
sell it post-Oops to a kid who'd like to rebuild it!

Hello,

I have recently bought a nice and clean 1991 Bayliner Capri model
1850. I had to replace the starter, but as far as condition goes, the
boat is in great shape. I got it from under $4K. It has an inboard 120
HP Force "L-Drive" engine. The boat performed well on the lake and I
haven't seen any major issues yet.

I am trying to educate myself more on this boat searching for info on
the internet and I haven't heard good things about Force L-drive
engines, but I haven't also heard horrible things about it. I really
like this boat (as my first boat) and would hate to sell it. But to me
now it seems that I did a very bad deal, even though I haven't seen
any major issues yet.

- Is it very difficult to find parts for it ?

- Is there anything I need to know about this engine ?

- Can the engine be replaced (and easily adapted to the lower unit)
for
something else better in case it simply crashes ?

- Should I consider getting rid of it now ?

- Is this just another boat engine ?

Thanks a lot in advance for your input.
