Default Bayliner Capri

You already have it, so until it breaks, enjoy it! (Oh, and keep a cell
phone or marine radio with you.) Force isn't the best, but I have seen some
very old Force engines still around and running. If it isn't giving you
problems now, just use it until it does. And when it does break, it won't
be hard for you or a dealer to install a new outboard of your choice. Who
knows... you might even decide you want a larger boat well before the engine
goes. Good luck.

Hello,

I have recently bought a nice and clean 1991 Bayliner Capri model
1850. I had to replace the starter, but as far as condition goes, the
boat is in great shape. I got it from under $4K. It has an inboard 120
HP Force "L-Drive" engine. The boat performed well on the lake and I
haven't seen any major issues yet.

I am trying to educate myself more on this boat searching for info on
the internet and I haven't heard good things about Force L-drive
engines, but I haven't also heard horrible things about it. I really
like this boat (as my first boat) and would hate to sell it. But to me
now it seems that I did a very bad deal, even though I haven't seen
any major issues yet.

- Is it very difficult to find parts for it ?

- Is there anything I need to know about this engine ?

- Can the engine be replaced (and easily adapted to the lower unit)
for
something else better in case it simply crashes ?

- Should I consider getting rid of it now ?

- Is this just another boat engine ?

Thanks a lot in advance for your input.
