I am sailing from Seattle to the San Juan Islands in a couple of days...
I am wondering if any of you can give me some things to watch for or
avoid(experiences ect.) on this trip(planning on going past port
towensend and over to Orcas Island.

I just returned (Anacortes to Friday Harbor and Mayne Island).

Plan the currents, because the rips in some areas where currents converge can be
severe. Even if the wind is light, a favorable current can save a lot of time
and fuel while motoring.

The Canadian book of current charts of the Gulf Islands and San Juans is an
excellent planning tool. Buy the chart book once, and a yearly book of tables
that will give you the hourly circulation of currents for each day.
