Newly reported Covid-19 cases in the U.S. fell to their lowest level
in nearly four months over Presidents Day weekend, and daily reported
deaths declined sharply from a recent spike.

There were more than 52,000 new cases reported for Monday, according
to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, down from 64,938 a day
earlier and 89,727 a week earlier. The latest number was published
early Tuesday Eastern time and may be updated later in the morning.

Too bad the US couldn't get rid of Trump 6 months ago. No telling how many lives that may have saved.
===

The best time would have been 12 months ago when he was still denying
that Covid presented any risk at all. Of course his real risk was to
his incumbency which he was acutely aware of.

Wasn't that the same time Fauci was saying that the US had nothing to worry about?
===

Do you have a cite for that? I don't remember it.

"On Jan. 21 - the day the first COVID-19 case in the U.S. was confirmed - Fauci appeared on conservative Newsmax TV. “Bottom line, we don’t have to worry about this one, right?” asked Greg Kelly, the host.

Fauci said, “Obviously, you need to take it seriously and do the kind of things the (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the Department of Homeland Security is doing. But this is not a major threat to the people of the United States and this is not something that the citizens of the United States right now should be worried about.”

===

Parsing his words, it seems like there's a bit of governmental double
speak going on. And of course it was still early in the epidemic
before people started dropping like flies in the north east.

Does Trump get your same consideration?

Hee, hee.

Your obsession with Trump is unnatural but somewhat
understandable. Have you been paying attention to the idiot in
charge. His political polish might appeal to you but he's
destroying the Country even more agressively than his mentor did.

I guess a subtle difference is Madoff scammed regular people,
thousands of them and Trump just scammed a few banks who should know
better. If he is guilty, charge him in court. I am OK with that. It is
how the system works but I bet any successful prosecutions will be in
civil or tax court, not criminal court.
Basically only money. The question is whether he still has the ability
to make any. I think he is less than broke but I have felt that way
since the 70s when I said my real net worth is probably higher than
his and I am just a "multi thousandaire". ;-)
It always amazed me people would still lend him money and watch him
living large on those loans.
At a certain point I just have to tell those venture capitalists
"Stupid is as stupid does" and I don't really have that much sympathy
for them. They must believe they will get their money back somehow.

Carl Ichan has the right idea. Pick up his distressed properties at
pennies on the dollar, bust them up and roll them over or develop them
as an actual money maker. I still get my check from Carl every
quarter.

I can't imagine that property being worth much with a pile of
rubble on it.

Is Carl the guy who owns the AC casino that was just demolished?
I can't imagine that property being worth much with a pile of
rubble on it.

===

The rubble will be sold off as scrap steel and hard fill, won't take
long at all. The site itself is in a prime location right across the
boardwalk from the ocean.

Yup, that was "our" casino. (I own about 600 shares of Ichan
enterprises that owns it).
They say it will be paved over in time for the summer season parking
and then he will start working on how he will develop it.
