Newly reported Covid-19 cases in the U.S. fell to their lowest level
in nearly four months over Presidents Day weekend, and daily reported
deaths declined sharply from a recent spike.

There were more than 52,000 new cases reported for Monday, according
to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, down from 64,938 a day
earlier and 89,727 a week earlier. The latest number was published
early Tuesday Eastern time and may be updated later in the morning.

Too bad the US couldn't get rid of Trump 6 months ago. No telling how many lives that may have saved.

The best time would have been 12 months ago when he was still denying
that Covid presented any risk at all. Of course his real risk was to
his incumbency which he was acutely aware of.

Wasn't that the same time Fauci was saying that the US had nothing to worry about?

===

Do you have a cite for that? I don't remember it.

Perhaps you can explain the 'weighted average' in Harry's post.

He did say this was not going to be a serious problem for 80% of the
people and they would cure themselves spontaneously. I may still have
that on my TiVo.

You can find a quote from Fauci saying just about anything.
Guys like Harry apologize for him and use words like "things change"
but didn't Fauci anticipate that before he got on TV and said
something stupid like "the general population doesn't need a mask",
"no wait, you should wear a mask", "no wait wear two".

Imagine where we'd be without his vaccine though, eh Wayne?

Show me one thing Biden has changed.
Don't bother with the adult leader thing. He hasn't really done ****.
The democrats were too busy with their quixotic quest to have another
loss in the Senate.

I saw an interesting stat this morning. They compared California that
is locked down to Florida that is pretty much letn'r rip and
California is doing worse per capita in all metrics. (Infections,
deaths, hospitalizations etc). I bet we also have more tourist and
snowbird influx too. That is pointed out by us being #1 in the UK
variant from the limeys who come here to dodge their winter weather
and restrictions. The hot spots in the midwest sent their people here
along with an unprecedented number of New York/Jersey folks.
I have been here 36 years and I have never seen this many NY tags on
this coast before. I suspect they came over last year when Broward
locked down and decided they liked it here

Dont be too harsh on the New Yorkers. Their attitudes might change
once they realize they are free from tyrrany of Cuomo and
ilk.

They still want to tell us how much better things were back in New
York and why can't we do things like they did up north.
I remind them, I-95 still has a northbound lane.

Happiness is watching a Canadian going home with a New Yorker under
each arm.
