I don't get sick very often ... in fact I can't even remember the last time I had the flu ... but this one knocked me for a loop. Obviously, covid-19 came to mind but fortunately no. Started with two days of low energy, tiredness but no other symptoms. Then, Tuesday morning I felt extremely fatigued. By Tuesday afternoon I was in bed with all the chills, aches, coughing and everything else that comes with the flu. Tuesday night sweated buckets. Wednesday night same thing only worse. No appetite. Wife went out and got 6 quart bottles of Gateraid. Forced myself to drink as much as I could. Finally, Thursday I started to feel some strength returning. Stayed in bed anyway. This morning feeling much better. I lost almost 14 lbs though over a week. Flu is not nice to 70 year olds. I'd watch (or sorta listen) to the news on different channels and all that did was make me feel worse. Tuned the tv to one of the music channels and just listened to it. Much better. === Glad to hear that you're feeling better - beware the relapse however. It's a low blow to have caught it after all of your precautions. My last bout of the flu was 6 years ago after a January round trip flight to New York. It was just about the sickest I'd ever been and I'm not sure I'd survive a repeat performance. We take all the precautions very seriously. I've known two people who died from the flu, both middle aged and previously healthy. Fatigue is going away and gaining some strength. Not fully recovered but well on the way. My last bout with a flu was further back than that. Last one I actually remember was while in the Navy, believe it or not. This adventure was a lot worse. As soon as I realized I was sick my wife stayed away ... stayed with my daughter until we knew what I had. She has pretty bad chronic respiratory issues (asthma) and I think the outcome for her would have been worse. No fun, this getting old ****. -- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com |

The last flu I can remember started right after we got off a plane in Florida. We were staying with friends in their condo prior to embarking on a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas when I started feeling a little weird. A third couple met us at the terminal end we a?l got checked in to our cabins. I wasn't feeling any better. By the next morning I felt weak with fever, sweats, nausea. The whole nine yards. I stayed in my cabin for the entire cruise. Funny thing is no one else in our party got sick. The third couple I mentioned were octagenerians. The rest of the story was a little happier. Ill share if anyone wants to hear it. |

If it had lasted a day or two longer without signs of improvement, I planned to. But, it followed the typical course of the flu and I am on the mend. -- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com |

In spite of all the scary rhetoric, for most people, this is just the worst flu you can remember or maybe just a mild cold. Fauci said early on he expected 80% to get over this spontaneously and now they are bumping that percentage higher. We really only hear about the ones who end up being really sick or dying. That Marion prison thing was interesting. The infection rate was extremely high but 95% didn't even know they had it. My wife said she was reading that certain blood types were having a harder time with this. "O+" was the best to have and "A" was the worst according to what she read. We are both O+ so it gives us a little more hope. The news had a story about the testing here last night. It turns out our county is a little over 7% positive on the tests and the county just north of us is 5 sumpin. It starts getting pretty grim as you move east across the sugar cane country tho. The worst was Palm Beach County at over 20% (Belle Glade, not the "old Jews in the condos on the beach" that Bill Maher talks about). |

Talked to our primary MD and she said, antibody testing is a crapshoot. True false maybe are the results and not repeatable. |
