I think the Catholic Church can find enough money in the couch
cushions to repair this but it will never be the same.
I did some reading and that roof was less than 200 years old (1844 or
so). Still an antique but not medieval

.......

Now they’re trying to find 800 yr old oak wood to replace beams...

They will have to tear down some other historic building to do that.

Frances ambassador to Canada is in Halifax today and a local host interviewed her. Said she was brought up in and still lives in Paris...close to the Effile Tower. Says she jogs along the Seine and can see Notre Dame from her run route. People have been approaching her on how they can help and she said something will be set up to accept donations.
I have to question how much insurance money will be available from both the construction company and the church itself.
