Don't necessarily need to hit the post with the plow. Sometimes just the snow the plow is lifting and throwing is enough. In rural areas it's also difficult for the plow operator to see the edge of the road or to judge how close he comes to mailbox posts. It's hard to imagine but a plow doing 25-30 mph can sustain some damage if it hits a post low that is in concrete ... especially with the ground frozen. |
