When did turn signals become a thing in DC? Must be all the new
comers. ;-)

The lack of turn signal use and the running of red lights are the 'in' thing around here now.

That is more like tradition. You certainly don't want to be the first
car stopping after the light turns red because the concrete mixer is
still coming.

That's why God made rear-view mirrors.

Turn signals were always the sign of a tourist.

Not any more. Usually it's a DC plate.

The tourists are the one who use the signals.

Well, I reckon I've not lived here long enough to get unclassified as a 'tourist'.

Why pick on us? I always do if there's anyone around to see them. Like
a lot of cars, I can press lightly on the lever for lane changes and it
will blink 3-5 times depending on the setting I choose.

Hilarious, at least to wife and I, BMW turn signal episode. Coming back
from Santa Cruz one day, BMW in center lane on highway 17 signals to go
left and does a sweep to the right to the off ramp. A couple of lanes
crossed. At least he used a turn signal. Now if he learns right from
left.

I would rather deal with people who never use turn signals than those
who never turn them off.

Not all beemer folks are as upstanding as you are!

I think almost all cars come with the lane change signal. Even my truck has it. I'm too ham-fisted
to properly operated the damn thing and end up with the turn signal on.

Motorcyclists have a signal for that. Most auto drivers think it means 'you talk too much'. Lots of
truck drivers understand it, or at least will look around to see what the problem is and eventually
shut off the signal.

Although the 'Turn Signal On' signal is shown off to the side, it's used over the head also.

Red lights?

Stop lights that have turned red. And I don't mean cheating on the yellow light. They just barrel
through the red light.

LOL. My mind went to them running some kind of lights *on* their cars.

Heh. Running red/stop lights isn't a thing just around there.
