Sorry, but an old-style Mini 14 or even a new-style Mini 14 with the
heavier barrel is NOT a 1 MOA rifle, even in a full bench rest shooting
top-drawer hand loads.

Nobody said it was. But there’s people out there that can tight group at that distance with a .22 LR. Just because you can’t doesnt mean others can’t either.

But that’s ok. I’m sure you’re a sharpshooter at hitting 2 litre sodie bottles and stumps at 20 ft.

I don't remember him saying he never tuned up his rifle.
You could improve your groups with one of those You Tube bedding jobs.
I am still surprised that any .223 would not shoot inside 1 MOA with
decent ammo from a rest and good optics. That round was originally
designed for shooting at ground hogs from very far away (as the Rem
..222). It is not unusual for guys to blow up a small rodent from
400-500 yards out. (granted with a BA rifle most of the time).

Mini 14s, the newer ones, are 3 moa rifles from a good rest. For a perfect
example and a top shooter, maybe 2 moa. The older Mini 14s are far worse.

I'm shooting under 1 moa with my TactiSol .22lr rifle and Nikon rimfire
scope with CCI Standard Vel ammo.

You might be right. My knowledge of those "fast little bullet"
cartridges is based on what varmint guys do with them. I never thought
it was a military cartridge and I never paid much attention to the
military rifles designed to use them. (yes Ruger was hoping to compete
with the AR)
OTOH just about any straight out of the box M1A will shoot inside a
MOA ... even if I can't ;-)



I'm not there (MOA) yet with my new AR10, but I am working on it. It's a
lot more to handle in terms of muzzle flip and recoil than anything I've
shot before, but I'm getting better. Oh...the noise...I'm wearing
earplugs and muffs when I shoot it. Sheesh! This is NOT a rifle
with which I can "sneak off" a few shots in the backyard.

I agree. My old beat to **** .22 remington pump will get pretty close
to, if not 1" groups at 100 yards shooting garden variety feed store
ammo.
Bagged in a rest with match ammo I am sure it will do it.
