3 or 4 blade props?

Again, you are saying that you use trim tabs (creating drag) to push
the bow into the water, leveling the boat.

"Pushing the bow into the water" is not what you are after, that would be
using the trim tabs too much. Leveling the boat is what you are after.

My contention is that the
more wet surface of the hull, the more drag you are creating.

There are two factors at work here. The drag from additional wetted surface
is minimal compared to the drag from an increased angle of attack.

Now, you
may like the nice level ride, but it is still creating drag. Twice.
One, the tabs are creating drag, two the bow is creating drag. Now,
does the efficiency improve?

If you have decreased the angle of attack (planing surface of the bottom)
then you will most likely have improved your efficiency.

. It's a boat to boat kind
of thing. Some may improve, some may not.

That I agree with.

Adding trim tabs to a boat won't decrease efficiency, but using them
incorrectly will. If you apply too much trim for the speed and conditions
you could decrease efficiency and could even create a safety issue. Used
properly, the trim tabs can improve hole shot, cruising efficiency and
handling.
