Can't Norway, Harry's model socialistic country, with one of the
highest
living standards, rich with oil and free health care afford to
train and
equip their own Marines?

..........

Some countries still use mercinaries. Looks like they’re still up
for it.

They are there for training purposes. Do you actually think 350 or
700 US Marines could hold off the Russians?

Did you read the article?Â* The 300 or so Marines were there for six
months on a NATO training exercise.Â* Now Norway wants to more than
double the number to 700, make the deployment a five year gig
and locate them near the Russian border.

And you think 700 U.S. troops near the border will stop the Russians
from invading if they so desire? They don't have to do that, what
with the way Trump is ****ting on the Western alliance, crapping on
NATO, and dumping on our long-time allies, all the Russians have to
do is sit around and wait, and, from their perspective, watch Trump
weaken the West.

1. Who said the Marines are there to hold off a Russian invasion?

The point (and my question) was ... if Norway feels the need to have
700 Marines permanently located near the Russian border, why do they
have to be US Marines?Â*Â* Norway can certainly train and equip their
own forces.

2. This question has absolutely nothing to do with Trump.Â* It seems
Â*Â*Â* you just can't help yourself in taking any opportunity to
Â*Â*Â* bring him up in any discussion.Â*Â*Â* Next you'll be telling Tim
Â*Â*Â* he won't be able to fix up or upgrade his pontoon boat because
Â*Â*Â* Canadian aluminum will be too expensive due to Trump.

It's called crosstraining. As for Tim's aluminum pontoon boat, well, the
aluminum might fetch 20 cents a pound.

6 months is crosstraining. 5 years is a permanent deployment.

As far as my pontoon goes, at.20c a lb it’s still worth a whole lot more than an imaginary twin Volvo diesel trawler is.

Perhaps you should imagine you are imagining something else...perhaps a
motorcycle built in this century.

I don’t have to imagine that. I have a 2000 Moto Guzzi. Beats an imaginary brand new Ducati

Mine has 4250 miles, several years old, hardly new. No dents or
scratches, though.

Soon to be up for sale for a handsome profit.

Unfortunately, no "profit," but I'm not looking for one...but I do like
one of the newer model Hondas, a bike more appropriate for tooling
around in southern Maryland.
