A knock on the door ....
Saw some news this morning about the growing membership in the
"Democratic Socialists of America". Seems the majority of young people today favor their form of socialism over capitalism, influenced mostly by liberal professors and instructors in our universities and colleges. This news story was timely and ironic because: Yesterday (Sunday) a guy wearing a suit knocked on my door. My first thought was he may be proselytizing for some religious order, something I have not experienced since 1970 while living in Zion, Il. Prepared to politely but firmly tell him I was not interested, he handed me a flyer and announced he represented the Democratic Socialists of America and was handing out information on the organization and what they believe in. Less friendly, I told him I wasn't interested, goodbye ... but he insisted on having me hear him out. Told him again I was not interested. He then said, "You must be a Trump supporter". Blew my cork. Told him to shove his socialism up his ass and get the **** off my property. Then, later in the day I saw a town cop had pulled him over not far from where we live. Later, I heard that the police had stopped him after receiving several complaints by others about him harassing people in the neighborhood. |

He calls us trump supporters with no fear of arrest. But he can still openly testify of his democratic socialism. |

What's the big deal? BTW, what do "Democratic Socialists" believe in? :) Google is your friend. My lawyer friend is a Democratic Socialist but he's not as far left as the current crop that are emerging from schools today. He's about your age. He and I have often had very civil and respectful discussions about politics and he knows well that I am not a "Trumpster". I just happen to believe in capitalism as a primary economic system in the USA and I support many of the efforts that Trump and Republicans in general are attempting to correct due to the overly left influences of the last administration. I don't approve (not that it matters what I think) or agree with his big, egotistical mouth and I think it hurts him in achieving his goals but that's a personality thing, not a political ideological issue. |

Our street, even out to the state road, doesn't have many houses, and we don't often get canvassers of any stripe. It's mostly the rural mail delivery folks who ring the doorbell. If they have a parcel too big for the community mail box kiosk down the street, they leave it on the front porch and ring the doorbell. I suspect you don't get much of that, eh, what with the "Quarantined" sign poked into your front lawn. No one wants your airborne herpes. |

If you paid attention instead of spewing out knee-jerk reactions you might realize that I don't defend "Trump" ... I simply agree with many of his policies and initiatives. It's a political and economic agreement, not an endorsement of his personality. You probably feel similarly about some outspoken people in your party ... like Maxine Waters. I'll bet that fundamentally you agree with much of her politics but wish she'd keep her big mouth shut. Regarding Hillary CLinton ... I've long been on record as to my distrust of her. I think she is possibly the most dishonest person to ever have been involved in politics. Maybe it's due to being a Libra (scales of justice) that is responsible for my feeling that she is guilty of election improprieties that make the accusations of Trump look insignificant. If he is going to be "investigated" for over a year and a half, she deserves the same treatment, especially as she continues to cast blame on everyone else for her defeat. She just doesn't get it. Enough people obviously thought like me resulting in her embarrassing loss. To their credit though, more and more members of your party are now saying, "Hillary Who?" |

My objection to my "visitor" wasn't really about socialism. I don't subscribe to it's ideology as it applies to the USA but I respect that it works elsewhere.
