Default Bridge collapse

It appears the reports of the collapsed walkway bridge *was* undergoing
stress tests when it fell apart. They were tightening cables on it to
confirm the stress ratings.

Why they were doing this with busy auto traffic passing under it is crazy.

New reports also indicate the companies involved have a history of being
fined for violations in the past.

Why would they even be selected for this project?

Stupid.

Lowest bidder, of course. That's our Miami government...

A report I read said the company made good sized political donations to those in power. Could help
explain their selection.

If you dig into the FEC records you see most of the money was funneled
through the Cuba/American PAC so it is not surprising that there are
so many spanish surnames popping up in that list.
I am not shocked that the Cubans in Miami are cooperating (colluding?)
with each other.
The other firm implicated is FIGG engineering (the designer) and they
seem to funnel their money through a road builder.PAC and they seem,
to spread their money around fairly equally. They favored house
republicans and senate democrats but there is really not much
difference either way.
BDI, the testing company is swearing they were not there that day at
all.
This is going to be tossed around for months if not years trying to
place the blame somewhere.
I do think it is ironic that FIU itself was involved through it's
engineering department and their accelerated bridge construction
program.
The ultimate question is why they were doing any of this stuff during
rush hour traffic and not closing the road. I bet we see a law about
that.
