Looks like a Mexican.
I would rent a lift. I like renting equipment. Stuff like that is
trivial with a man lift.
At a certain point it is easier to just drop the tree. That is what we
did with the big fichus in the yard.

Problem with just dropping a tree, is location. I just paid $1800 to have
two Italian Alders cut down. Drought casualties. But 40’ tall near the
house. Got a discount for keeping most the wood for the wood stove.


My buddy got a discount for letting them take the wood. He's up north
where there's a good market for firewood.



Here, they most likely have to pay to get rid of it, or the sales price is
probably not high. Is alder, which is good for smoking fish, but not oak
quality firewood

It was going to cost me over $400 to get 30 yards of hort debris
hauled away here, plus renting the lift to piece out the big tree and
I still figured I was going to be putting the smaller stuff out for
the stick man.
Irma solved the whole problem. The way the wind was coming snapped off
the biggest limbs going toward the house so it was pretty certain I
could drop the tree up on FPL in one piece and cut it up there. Then
we had a "drag it to the curb and we will haul it away" amnesty so I
only had to make things small enough to drag with the truck. I am glad
I didn't try the dumpster thing because it would have taken at least
2, not the one I hoped for. They were not cutting and stacking it but
they filled 2 1/2 25-30 yard trailers. The girl in charge of the crew
was really good about picking everything up in the field next door,
not just what was in the right away and I gave her a C note to share
with the drivers. I figured I was still almost a grand ahead.

Around here, few people mess with firewood anymore because the ins companies don’t allow it. And people are getting too lazy to mess with it. Most tree cutters haul the city trunks to the land fills because they usually have too many nails or staples in them to make saw logs. The mills won’t take them

Ditto here. Although I've a neighbor who has replaced his electric furnace with a wood burner and
uses firewood to heat his whole house. Last time I had an oak tree cut down he helped me split it,
and then we took it all to his house. Saved me a few hundred bucks and made him happy.

My niece in Bryans Road has one of those wood burning furnaces but
they gave up the wood and burn oil in it now. The house still smelled
like smoke years later

Never noticed a smell in his house, but smoking may have done in my nose.

He has oaks for sure. That makes sense.
