They are just trying to allow former democrat officials to keep their
vote when they get out of jail.
BTW, talking about ex con democrats, is there any truth to the rumor
that Marion Barry is going to get a statue on Pennsylvania Avenue?
Yikes!
I guess his eternal flame will be sparking up his hash pipe.

....,

LOL!!!

Actually it is true Yikes again.
This is not even out in "Soufeese" east of the river where he was
from, it is 3 blocks from the Capitol.
He is there with his fist in the air, saying "the bitch set me up" I
guess.

I guess if you are a democrat, you can succeed being a crook. His main
claim to fame was getting a contract to put in trash cans in the city
(Pride Inc). He got the money but the city actually maintained the
trash cans. Sweet. He ended up hiring all of his friends and family,
on the city payroll but they didn't actually do much. There was a big
stink about it just about the time when home rule started and congress
lost control of the city's finances. Nothing much came out of it after
that.

I vaguely remember. A lot of bones in the closet conveniently got swept under the rug at that time...

When I heard about this on the radio this morning, I figured it was a relative of Marion Berry. But,
I guess not.

Unless it's like 'second cousin twice removed' or some damn thing.

DC has been a disaster since the 70s when they got full home rule,.
They are still dependent on the federal tax payer for most of their
money. There was a thought in the 60s when this home rule thing first
started gaining real traction that they should carve out the "federal
triangle" areas that are owned by the feds (and virtually no one lives
except the president), leave that as the district and cede the rest of
the city to Maryland, much as the Virginia part was ceded back before
the Civil War, The problem was Maryland did not want the area east of
the Anacostia River but they were OK with the area west of Rock Creek
Park. It never really went too far, I guess because it was too good an
idea.
It would have really solved a lot of problems. To start with they
would actually have gotten the vote right then. They still don't have
a vote in congress.
I suppose part of the problem is that would have turned Maryland blue
at a time when it was pretty much red.
