![]() I wonder how many people realize that the plan proposed by Trump to provide a pathway for citizenship for "Dreamers, replace the lottery based immigration system with a merit based system and establish limits on "chain migration" is pretty much the same plan in a bill sponsored by Chuck Schumer in 2013. The bill was developed by the "Gang of Eight" (4 Democrats and 4 Republicans) and was passed in the Senate with every single Democrat voting *for* it. It was never brought to a vote in the House where it died. But now, although essentially the same plan (except Trump has offered to include another million undocumented people) the Dems, including Schumer, are dead set against it. Oh ... in 2013 they also supported and voted for at least 700 miles of a border wall. Now for some reason we don't need it according to the Dems. So, what changed? The only real change is who is sitting in the Oval Office. |
