The offficial Manafort indictment document, much more interesting than
you might think given its legalese cloaking:

https://www.justice.gov/file/1007271/download

It's almost a DIY "how to" manual on setting up offshore accounts and
repatriating the funds. Incredible stuff and fairly readable.

Hopefully, it is enough to force Manafort and Gates to spill the beans
about their intimate knowledge of RussiaGate and Trump, Trump, and
Kushner's involvement as a a future un-indicted co-conspirator and
indicted conspirators. If not, then Manafort and Gates will face
additional indictments.

Frankly I'd be much more interested in RussiaGate and Hillary.

I am not sure how they link any of this to Trump or the campaign and I
am sure people would be troubled if the US government traded away $75
million in tax evasion for an embarrassing statement against Trump
that still might not go anywhere. I do agree this is not a good day
for Gates and Manafort tho. Two more people who got ****ed because
they danced with Trump. Without this witch hunt, I doubt if any of
this would have seen the light of day.
I do agree that the Clintons are twitching a little now that these
kinds of dealings are being prosecuted because they have had some
pretty questionable dealings themselves and there is still plenty of
room on the barrel.

One article I read said that Manafort had been under investigation since 2014, well before he joined Team Trump. The indictments have nothing to do with the Trump campaign, at least at this point.

I have no idea where this is going, but it is a pretty good opening shot
to indict Manafort and Gates, and for George Papadopoulos to plead
guilty. It looks as if the "conspiracy" goes farther than the three so
far named. It's hardly a witch hunt, as Trump likes to call it. Mueller
is a Republican and so is the U.S. federal attorney general who
appointed him.

Manafort is facing years in prison. He has the option to spill the
beans, and he has a potful. Even if Trump pardons him for the federal
offenses, money laundering is also a state crime in New York State.

Even the NBC news guy here seemed disappointed that "Trump" and
"Russia" were absent from the indictment.
