I am not quite sure how that works. Would we declare war on them like we did in the 1860s? It does beg the question, how well would California do when we pulled all of the defense contracts because they were not Americans anymore? Would we make them buy all of the government land from us? If they give the military grounds to retired folks, I've got dibbies on Ft. MacArthur. Spent a glorious two years there as advisor to National Guard and Reserve Engineer units. Nice spot. San Pedro has some great burrito joints. I think if California pulls out of the union the government should sell all of their military bases in California to developers. Pendleton and Alameda alone would take a chunk out of the debt. Alameda is already turned over to local government. Have not done much with it. I knew it wasn't a navy base but I did not know they gave it away. |
