Nothing more than extra large, extra expensive, floating missile
targets.

... But there is no better way to project influence into the 3d
world.
Beyond being a weapons platform that is also a city sized power
station, hospital and rescue base.
If we are fighting a super power, I agree with you and Zumwalt.
Carriers will last a few days.

Appears to be on mission and impressing the natives.

Doubt the Canadians are impressed by anything more than the amount
of cash
the crews will spend ashore.

We don't like to dwell too much on that, although it's important for
the downtown bars and taverns. Seems like those American sailors
love tasting real beer for a change. ;-)
Almost a bit scary though...this year is the 100th Anniversary of
the Halifax Explosion, which is considered the largest man made
explosion before the atomic bomb that killed or injured almost a
quarter of the city's population while devastating most of the north
end of the city.
One can only shudder to think what would happen if a nuke carrier
had an accident in the harbour.

These are U.S. Navy guys...what they want is beer and hookers. Someone
semi-sober will drive the ship. Maybe.

And once again Harree demonstrates his profound knowledge of all
things related to the US military, no doubt developed during his many
years of dedicated service to his country. [NOT]

I am sure I am not alone in observing that Harry has devolved into a
common but classic internet/newsgroup troll, much along the lines of
Slammer and a few others.

He once was capable of having reasonable discussions but either old age
or drinking too much of today's progressive liberal kool-aid has altered
his thought process and he can only retort with insults and "flames" as
it was called in the early days of trolls.

I don't bother anymore.
