I bought this .mp3 and love it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk7RVw3I8eg Sorry. Different but doesn't compare to the original, IMO. Interestingly, S&G originally released it as "The Sounds of Silence" in 1964 and was used in the movie "The Graduate" but the album it was on flopped. It was re-released in 1966 as "Sound of Silence" and became the big hit. According to Simon, the song was about the growing inability of people to talk and communicate. I think it's popularity after the second release also demonstrated a major shift in the public's mood as the Vietnam War ramped up. Big difference even in two short years. === I saw The Graduate for the first time in the spring of 1967, and that was probably the first time I'd ever heard any of their music. I was mostly hibernating that year however and wasn't getting out much. Great movie and great music, it really made an impression on me. --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. http://www.avg.com |
