It sure was...and very windy also. Missed a number of boating days when the wind was over 40km per hour. We really aren't used to week after week of temperatures in the upper '80s. On this side of the harbour, our water supply was fine but in the Dartmouth area their lake was getting down so they had to curtail use. Global warming? Global warming would make you tropical and lots of rain. That is why they call it climate change. They are just saying the climate will change and it may be a little different for everyone. The warming will show up in the north more than the south according to the theory. If they are right and this is greenhouse gasses, plan on warmer weather because greenhouse gasses are just the result of how many people are on the planet. |

But then...he jumped about an octave and I was out of he picture. Great voice though. I clicked on this video also, and it sounds to me like he is hitting a bunch of notes very flat. Maybe it was just 'cause he was in Australia. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IEBIfyIJpU How about this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2u-PjvRyr0I Couldn't understand the words...my hearing problem...plus she made weird mouth movements that interferred with lip reading along with having the mike in front of her mouth. That was one thing very enjoyable about David Draiman's rendition, I could understand every word. His enunciation was fantastic. I wish more singers would give some thought to those with hearing problems. Just moving the mike below the lips would make a big difference. I've seen singers hold the mike in front of- and below their lips, and I don't think it makes any difference to the sound. |

Interestingly, S&G originally released it as "The Sounds of Silence" in 1964 and was used in the movie "The Graduate" but the album it was on flopped. It was re-released in 1966 as "Sound of Silence" and became the big hit. According to Simon, the song was about the growing inability of people to talk and communicate. I think it's popularity after the second release also demonstrated a major shift in the public's mood as the Vietnam War ramped up. Big difference even in two short years. |

I was mostly hibernating that year however and wasn't getting out much. Great movie and great music, it really made an impression on me. --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. http://www.avg.com |

But about 2003 saw Ann Bancroft in the Graduate play in London. Maybe age related, but kept thinking nobody could be that stupid about life after 4 years of college. |
