Keyser Soze - show quoted text - "You must have the world's longest face." SNERK! Bet he's heard that more than once. Well, unless Herring is more of a freak than I remember, I cannot see how he can get the appropriate cheek weld with the normal stock on that rifle and that sight at the height it is installed. |

Finally got the Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle that I've been lusting for. Love it. Also love the Burris prism sight. Of course, without the sight I was shooting dime size groupings at 100yds unsupported. (Just kidding! I'm not nearly the shot our southern Maryland boy is!) Here's a couple photos. Hope they're viewable: http://s98.photobucket.com/user/jher...uger%20Mini-14 That's a nice rifle and optic! Enjoy! |

On the more modern versions of that "AR" rifle, there is no carry handle. What there is is a rail mounted on the upper receiver right above the action and the barrel. If there is a carry handle, it is removable so a sight can be mounted on a rail. None of the photos in what you posted show a Mini-14, anyway. I tried out the sight you bought at a Bass Pro Shop. It is a decent sight for the price. Interestingly, the firearms sales counters at that store are almost 100 yards away from the other side of the store, so you can easily see how the sight would perform at that fairly typical distance. I ended up buying a Vortex sight instead. You pays your money and you makes your choice. |

Krause, your pretense of omniscience is just that. Uh, I owned a Colt AR rifle, a fairly good "duplicate" aside from select fire of what is issued to the military. No carry handle, and if you wanted additional sights, you mounted them on the rail forward of the folding rear sight. The photos you posted here of the AR rifle showed the old style AR with the carry handle. As I stated originally, you've got that sight on your new rifle mounted too high. I doubt it matters much for a guy like you, though, since it is unlikely you could hit a 2' "gong" target at 100 yards. |
