Maybe I should sell mine and buy a sailboat down there to use as a cottage in the winter months. Not only does my buddy have his 'Six Pack' skippers license but he also has a surveyors license which could come in handy if I was looking for a boat in that part of the Caribbean. What you will get with a large boat of that vintage is an never-ending list of serious, expensive repairs that need to be made. That is pretty much true of boats in general if you do not do the maintenance yourself. Older boats just have more stuff that will not have a warranty and may have been ignored too long, perhaps years too long. In that regard, I don't think I want an old boat from the Caribbean. That is where old boats go to die. |
