No survey allowed?
My buddy in the BVI says there are lots of boats available there at a good price. Maybe I should sell mine and buy a sailboat down there to use as a cottage in the winter months. Not only does my buddy have his 'Six Pack' skippers license but he also has a surveyors license which could come in handy if I was looking for a boat in that part of the Caribbean. |

They are giving you the right to refuse the sale after the auction closes and you inspect the boat. |

What you will get with a large boat of that vintage is an never-ending list of serious, expensive repairs that need to be made. |

Imaginary boats require only imaginary repairs. Same is true of Ducatis. |

That is pretty much true of boats in general if you do not do the maintenance yourself. Older boats just have more stuff that will not have a warranty and may have been ignored too long, perhaps years too long. In that regard, I don't think I want an old boat from the Caribbean. That is where old boats go to die. |

Not necessarily, my buddy lives on a Hughes 32 that was found high and dry inland after a hurricane. He did have to scrounge for a new (to him) motor and some rigging but he's had it for a number of years now. A couple of years ago he bought a 'project' Boat from another friend in the BVI who got tangled up with an American woman who took him back to the US. Vic uses the 2nd boat as his storage shed. He also has a 3rd sailboat...a 19' daysailor he sometimes used to give sailing lessons to tourists. |
