Maybe trying to elevate his own credibility as far as being a world class journalist. Now he's trouncing the rumor mills and fake news maggots that will print about anything to make a cheap buck through tabloid 'shock and awe' tactics.

The reports that have Trump cavorting in urine with Russian prostitutes
haven't been substantiated or debunked. If Piers is debunking the fake
news maggots, he must be going after Fox, eh?

My father didn't have to "put me through" college. He paid some
incidental expenses, but I was glad to find a couple of part-time and
summer jobs that paid enough for me to cover my tuition and room and
board at a dorm. He was quite happy to pay for my text books and $25 a
week "pocket money."

Yes, I thought it would be important for me to work and help pay my way
through college, because I knew I wasn't going to enlist in the naveee
and get some sinecure of a job. I worked loading docks and as a welder
in the summers and a variety of part-time jobs while getting my B.A.

Only if your historian is Gilbert and Sullivan ... but perhaps it is.
You are much stronger on fiction than fact.

"Navee" comes from the lyrics of HMS Pinafore, simply so those
liberal arts singers would keep the meter right and that is the only
reference I have ever seen.
I understand you have an affinity for the 18th century for the Royal
Navy when the tradition was flogging, rum and sodomy but I find no
reference that they spelled it "Navee".
It certainly never was accepted here.
The Constitution article 1 Section 8 (13): says
"To provide and maintain a NAVY".

In none of Patrick O'Brian's 20 novels do I recall seeing the word 'navee'.

The words that mean "navy" go back to at least the 1300s and include
navee, nauye, navye, nauie, nauy, and others. Whether it was "accepted
here" is not relevant.

"To provide and maintain a NAVY".

The words that mean "navy" go back to at least the 1300s and include
navee, nauye, navye, nauie, nauy, and others. Whether it was "accepted
here" is not relevant.

I suppose you have a cite for that.

I gave my OED to the kids but since none of us were alive in the 14th
century go ahead and admit you were just trying to insult the people
who served their country and move on.
It is best that you did hide in college until they forgot about you
because we had no need for an effeminate elitist like you defending
our country. They would have cashiered you out with a GD pretty
quickly anyway. It was how they dealt with useless people in the late
60s and early 70s.

You gave a 20-volume set of the OED to your kids, eh? I sort of

Harry, being the literary genius that you are, I am sure you realize
that there are many words and versions thereof in the English language
that have died in terms of common usage. They only remain in a
historical context. The fact that you like to show off using "dead"
words doesn't make them correct usage.

Actually I would say that it is a pretty accurate inference based on
your past behavior. How long have you had this superiority complex,
and does it contribute to your overall happiness? I'd guess not.

The context of the use of the word says it all. You were trying to
insult veterans. Your disdain of the people who serve is very clear
from what you say here. You enjoy the freedom the military has given
you but you feel no obligation to participate or even to recognize
their sacrifice. It is just a joke to you.

I am sure the fair doctor would call it the opposite type of complex
with the overriding need to exert the illusion of superiority when
there is no rational reason to believe it.
