No motivation there. What are the chances that the kid will ever get
their act together in a case like that?

When I was 20 and just started working at IBM, my parents went the
other way. They moved to Florida and left me with the lease on their
apartment in Md.
At least I didn't have to move out, I just needed some roomies to help
with the rent and I needed some furniture. ;-)
