Dear Hollywood Celebrities

(too good not to cut'n'paste!)

Dear Hollywood celebrities, You exist for my entertainment. Some of you are great eye candy. Some of
you can deliver a line with such conviction that you bring tears to my eyes. Some of you can scare
the crap out of me. Others make me laugh. But you all have one thing in common, you only have a
place in my world to entertain me. That’s it. You make your living pretending to be someone else.
Playing dress up like a 6 year old. You live in a make believe world in front of a camera. And often
when you are away from one too. Your entire existence depends on my patronage. I’ll crank the organ
grinder; you dance. I don’t really care where you stand on issues. Honestly, your stance matters far
less to me than that of my neighbor. You see, you aren’t real. I turn off my TV or shut down my
computer and you cease to exist in my world. Once I am done with you, I can put you back in your
little box until I want you to entertain me again. I don’t care that you don't like Mr.Trump. But I
bet you looked cute saying it. Get back into your bubble. I’ll let you know when I’m in the mood for
something blue and shiny. And I'm also supposed to care that you will leave this great country if
Trump becomes president? Ha. Please don't forget to close the door behind you. We'd like to reserve
your seat for someone who loves this country and really wants to be here. Make me laugh, or cry.
Scare me. But realize that the only words of yours that matter are scripted. I might agree with some
of you from time to time, but it doesn’t matter. In my world, you exist solely for my entertainment.
So, shut your pie hole and dance.

Well said. They are the real "Election disrupters" not the Russians. I
include the biased talking heads on the entertainment shows sold as
news too.

Dip****. Was the decision on the politicians and public. After the Tet
Offensive the VC were basically done. Maybe you should study a little
history, instead of spending all your energy on snide remarks.

The VC were done but the NVA were still an effective force for the
rest of the war, along with their Soviet benefactors.

There was a problem with the political will to actually take and hold
ground. The US never lost a battle. They just kept fighting the same
one for the same dirt over and over again. It would have taken more
soldiers than we were willing to commit to actually win that war and
as soon as that was apparent, we should have got the hell out of there
.... or not gone at all, Thanks JFK/LBJ for killing 60,000 guys for
nothing.
We still have not learned that lesson because we are doing it again in
the middle east and South Asia. Let these monkeys kill each other and
stay out of it. Terrorism is an issue for us because all of our bombs
have a return address on them.

That explains a lot. TV is just a mix of opinion and propaganda. I
molded a lot of my opinion talking to vets who were there, some as
early as 1963-4. (one Army Green Beret, one a Force Recon Marine)
My roomie and childhood friend was Recon 2 tours 66-68. When he came
home after Tet, it was clear this was not going to come out well.

What? That I am paying attention?

There is not enough hard news on TV to fill an hour of time and we
have several "all news all the time" networks so it has to be a lot of
opinion. I suppose most of it spins left so you think it is fact but
I doubt you disagree that fox is mostly opinion. The rest of us feel
the same about MSNBC/NBC. When the VP of their controlling corporation
is a DNC apparatchik, why would you expect anything less?

I watch a pretty good mix, including a lot of PBS. Charlie Rose is
perhaps one of the best but you see his prejudices leak out there too,
in spite of trying to be impartial.
The shows that have NPR links are definitely left of center.
MSNBC, CNN and Fox are just entertainment shows, disguised as news.

If you really want to know what is going on, watch Cspan. I am not
even sure congress does tho by the number of empty seats when they
have serious issues on the floor.

CSPAN isn't invited into closed committee and subcommittee hearings,
which is where most of the decision-making is done.

I doubt you know what my political agenda is and, as for religious
beliefs, I think they are just fine so long as the believer doesn't try
to push those beliefs onto others or onto those whose beliefs are
different.

big 3 networks.

That explains a lot. TV is just a mix of opinion and propaganda.

Well, that explains a lot about you.

I watch the PBS NewsHour and the BBC World News America and sometimes in
the evening MSNBC. Perhaps you should consider expanding your news
horizons.

I understand that. Washington is so leaky that we don't have to wonder
long what went on tho.
The thing Cspan is good for is to watch how votes go. You understand a
vote a lot better by watching the early pace than looking at the final
count. Typically you see people waiting until it is decided before you
see a significant number vote. They want the vote on their record when
there is nothing to lose for them.

I doubt you know what my political agenda is and, as for religious
beliefs, I think they are just fine so long as the believer doesn't try
to push those beliefs onto others or onto those whose beliefs are
different.
......

I never said anything about your political "agenda" but in nutshell terms, you hate anything that's not an atheistic/agnostic democrat

Come on, Tim...you can do better than sounding like one of rec.boat's
collection of right-wing deplorables. I don't *hate* anybody, though I
have no respect for anyone who shovels religion into the path of others.

However you feel Harry. But if it "walks like a duck..." You know the rest or at least should be able to figure it out.

How about GLBTZQ? Okay to shovel that into the paths of others?

Let's see...that would be a bisexual lesbian transvestite sandwich with the gay zoophile queers.

Yummy!
