Good luck with that, seems much more likely that yours will be first.

Heh, 72 isn't too old. There are a lot of interesting deals on EBAY
also. I almost bid on a Bertram 35 the other day that had relatively
new Cummins turbo diesels in it. Coukd have won the bid for somewhere
less than $14,000. The engines alone were worth more than that. Sort
of sorry I let it go but it would have added another unneeded
complexity.

Man that would have been a good deal if the boat was any count at all. Is the boat market soft right now?

The market seems very soft for older boats. A lot of them are showing
up on EBAY. I think part of the issue is the durability of fiberglass
boats. If maintained even half way decently, they just seem to last
forever. The systems start to go however, and it can cost a fortune
to start replacing and upgrading - all of which is done at new boat
pricing.

On a micro scale, that is why I roll good running outboards every 10
years. They are fixing to $500 to death.
If you are talking about a Berty that is many times that.
Tim can help you out on the electrical stuff tho. ;-)

That is true but at that point we are talking about a piece of art,
not a boat you use regularly.
I know a guy in Tampa who does cars.
There is well over 3 megabucks in this barn

Thanks for the kind words, fellas. It was good to be remembered after all this time.

The fishing days are over as I sold the boat in October of 2013. I'm 72 now and it was getting to be a lot of work. I read the old fishing reports on my site quite often and miss the time sitting in the cockpit waiting for the bite of big ol' sturgeon. But I sure don't miss all the work involved. I have a new (to me) coach and still enjoy the trips around the country.

But lately I catch myself perusing the boat ads on Craigslist. Lord help me...

Dale, I felt the same way for a couple years, but finally bit the bullet and wrote the check for
another one. Some folks around here make very, very snide comments about those who may be
temporarily, or permanentty, boatless.

John, Thats one solid boat and that was a really good deal i might add...

Thanks Tim! Needs a bit of work, but I'm getting some kicks out of it.

John, what did you get?

Any pictures?

I was helping out at my wife's church all day yesterday, but I see Tim took up the slack.

I thought I actually got a pretty good price for mine. It'll take a bit of work to get into top
shape, but I expect I'll at least double or triple my investment if and when I decide to sell it.

Even the brand new ones need a bit of work. Keep sending pictures
as you make progress on the improvements.
