f27 screacher importance?

Hello, Was sailing on an f24mII. Found a screacher to be invaluable on it especially since they don't come with a full jenoa. Had many uses. Could sail fairly high in moderate winds if care was taken to make the halyard tight with cap shroud adjusters. Sometimes even used it in a double head sail config. Just bought an f27 corsair w/o screacher which does have a nice genoa, working jib, blade, and asym spinnaker. Got some other upgrades to do, so I must consider just how important is it to get a screacher? Your opinions and anecdotes are appreciated. Regards John **remove the xx in the reply to email field I've had an F27 for four years now & the screacher is a great sail & many uses. If you have the standard bowsprit with a universal joint at the prow, make sure you have a support pole to the bowsprit tip. I made the mistake of lowering the sail to reduce windage while underway to windward. A wave bounced us and the bowsprit tilted down and put all in the water. Not recommended. For more questions, email me at Otherwise, a wonderful sail. Leon |
