That would have been a wise choice.
PJ O'Rourke wrote a piece in the 70s about space aliens and the
referenced native Americans. He pointed out that high tech always
conquers low tech and the only exception was the cannibals in South
America. For hundreds of years, we left them alone. His conclusion was
if ET shows up here, we should kill them and eat them.
If the first thanksgiving included the pilgrims on the menu, we may
not have stayed here long enough to push them off their land.
