Knowing Tim, he probably felt sorry for the guy and just gave it back to him. I'm sitting on pins and needles waiting for the 'crazy details'. Well, it wasn't quite like that. The little outboard rig i bought last year. Well, it turns out that ther3e was almost a family feud going on over the boat. I bought this boat from a guy for 400.00 and took it home and started to revamp Somme stuff seeing it asst for 4 years since his fathers passing. After I bought it, I pulled the lower and installed a new water impeller, lower oil carb rebuilds on a 85 Mercury, a some new boards and carpet on the trailer, also tires and bearings (and bearing buddies), not only so, but fixes some minor interior and mounted dual gas tanks. I threw the original tin tank and hoses out because it was full of gas 'skank' and replaced it with some twin Moehlers. Ok, so now it's set to do a great Wabash River river run with it. I liked the outboard because you can hit all kinds of stuff on this river. and I wanted to go up stream from Vincennes Indiana, all the way to Terre Haute In, which is a goodly distance, and just be able to enjoy the spring scenery. My wife thought it would be a blast too. Ok, so I get this call from the brother of the guy that sold me the boat telling me that it was meant to be his and he wanted it, and was kind of demanding that he got it back. Of courser he lived in way northern state and hadn't been around in years. But now 4 years later he decides to claim it. Kinda burns me that he didn't care much for the boat till it was gone 44 years after it was to be his anyhow. well, too bad. He knew what Id paid and was willing to give my money back but that's where things changed. Instead of 400, the price jumped to 1500.00.. He thought I was ripping him off and I told him of all the work I had done and also did myself and had recipes for parts and outsource labor and I was willing to sell it to him for what I had in it MINUS the two Mohler tanks. Yeah he through a fit and said I was trying to rip him off, and I reminded him that I had the title in My hand and MY name. now who is ripping off who? OK, i'll make the long story shorter. I was handed $1500.00 in cash, I kept the two new plastic tanks and he received the title. Did I lose, no. did I break even? Maybe. But anyhow, he'll have to get over being hacked. I took the money and payed some hospital deductibles. LOL I'll come across another though... |

His brother is a stand up guy that wanted it off the property and the jerk showed no interest in it till it was gone. I still came out ok but really did it to help the good guy out. He had enough on his plate already... |

Well I look at it this way- I wan't that nice, I sold it for way more than I gave for it but making improvements justified the selling cost. If I Was that nice, I would have sold it for what I originally paid for it. If I was really that nice, I would have given it back for nothing. Now, If I had felt the Bern, I would have paid him to take it and felt like it was for the best of humanity, let alone society... |
