Sirius is a pain in the ass. They give you a free 3 month subscription or something when you buy a new, Sirus equipped vehicle and then hound the bananas out of you to set it up and subscribe. I had a Sirius subscription way back when they first started and took advantage of a "free" lifetime offer for $300. They seem to have lost records of that. I unsubscribed from all their emails. Don't need it. I figured out how to pair my cell phone via Bluetooth and downloaded the Nissan app that allows me to go on-line in the car. Subscribed to the free version of Pandora. That's good enough in addition to local radio. Can you get Pandora in the car? -- Ban liars, tax cheats, juvenile name-callers, and narcissists...not guns! Yes, via the cell phone and Bluetooth. The car has a button for "Apps". Pandora is one of them. |

I mostly listen to one of our classical stations around here, or NPR, and if I am "on the road," either find a local classical station or listen to some of the 40 gigs of music on my iphone. Last time I drove to Hilton Head, I listened to all nine of the Beethoven symphonies in order, and played solely on the piano. It was a wonderful and educational experience. I'd fall asleep at the wheel. |

I've negotiated with them a few times and the best they offered was $72 for a year. I only travel in the May-October time period so I wanted a deal on 6 months. I really only wanted the '60s rock music. Couldn't agree on a pkg so I enjoy the two week free service each spring. Trouble is half the time has elapsed before they notify me that it's available. One thing about 60s music, or any other "decade" group is they are not making any more so MP3 is an excellent way to hear it. The only argument anyone has made to me that makes sense is I never hear anything new but I have my wife and a daughter scouting that out for me. |

I do have hundreds of tunes from the '50s and '60s plus favorites up till about 5 or 6 years ago loaded on my older iPod that connects through the Highlander stereo. Always use that on highway trips over an hour in duration. |

That's good enough in addition to local radio. You can get their "Mostly Music" package for about $14 a month, but it's still not worth it to me. It's not the cost, it's the quality. It's highly compressed and sounds like it. Almost no stereo image, no dynamic range. Dull and flat. My car has a hard drive I can rip CDs to, and bluetooth for the itunes on my phone. They, and the HD FM tuner, sound so much better than Sirius I just can't listen to it anymore. When I called them to not renew, the guy got really ****ed when he asked why and I told him it sounded like ****. :-) |

Franz Lizst did the transcriptions and arrangements for solo piano, and they certain are a tour de force. The piano versions reveal much about how Beethoven structured his masterpieces and how certain themes make many appearances, sometimes transposed. The pianist on the set I own is Konstantin Scherbakov. Here he is on another Beethoven piece. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4tzhU1iJgs |
