Flint Michigan ... do I have to say anything else.
You have a democratic mayor, a republican governor and the EPA.
It is hard to point the finger at anyone in particular but the
government has clearly failed them.

My question is, way back when Flint was rolling in Detroit money, long
before we heard of Michael Moore, why didn't they replace those lead
pipes? We knew lead pipe was bad when I was a kid. They also knew
about acid rain and the effect of low pH water on lead.
My water here, pretty much does not touch any kind of metal until it
hits the faucet.

They are doing everything in their power to lay the blame on the Republican governor.

APRIL 2014: In an effort to save money, Flint begins drawing its water from the Flint
River instead of relying on water from Detroit.

JANUARY 2015: ...Flint insists its water is safe.

FEB. 3: State officials pledge $2 million for Flint's troubled water system.

MARCH 19: Flint promises to spend $2.24 million on immediate improvements to its
water supply.

MARCH 27: Flint officials say the quality of its water has improved and that testing
finds the water meets all state and federal standards for safety.

SEPT. 24: A group of doctors led by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha of Hurley Medical Center
urges Flint to stop using the Flint River for water after finding high levels of lead
in the blood of children....

Sounds like Flint brought on its own problems.

Flint seems to have problems in other areas also. Wonder if those are also the fault
of the Republican governor...or could it be the mayor?

"LANSING, Mich. (NYT) A top aide to Michigans governor referred to
people raising questions about the quality of Flints water as an
anti-everything group. Other critics were accused of turning
complaints about water into a political football. And worrisome
findings about lead by a concerned pediatrician were dismissed as
data, in quotes.

"That view of how the administration of Gov. Rick Snyder initially dealt
with the water crisis in the poverty-stricken, black-majority city of
Flint emerged from 274 pages of emails, made public by the governor on
Wednesday."

Perhaps the Snyder administration thought it would be easier, more
efficient and cheaper to poison and kill mass numbers of blacks rather
than have the police do it one at a time.

snipped bull****

Flint, Michigan (CNN)The Environmental Protection Agency's regional
administrator for Flint, Michigan, has resigned, the agency said in a
statement Thursday.

"EPA Region 5 Administrator Susan Hedman has offered her resignation
effective February 1, and EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy has accepted
given Susan's strong interest in ensuring that EPA Region 5's focus
remains solely on the restoration of Flint's drinking water," the
agency said.

In late June, then-Flint Mayor Dayne Walling wrote to Hedman, seeking
information about the issue of lead in Flint's drinking water. She
essentially shot him down in her response.

"The preliminary draft report should not have been released outside
the agency. When the report has been revised and fully vetted by EPA
management, the findings and recommendations will be shared with the
City and MDEQ (Michigan Department of Environmental Quality) -- and
MDEQ will be responsible for following up with the City," Hedman
wrote.

She had also fallen under fire for allegedly retaliating against EPA
employees involved in investigating sexual harassment cases.

This problem is actually 100 years old and they have ignored it for at
least 50 of them when lead water pipes were identified as being
dangerous, particularly with low pH water from "acid rain".
Lead was such a problem that it was banned in paint in the 60s and
they started moving away from lead solder in copper piping. I was
already using lead free solder in 1976 when I put on my addition. That
is an indefinitely small exposure when compared to the entire pipe
being lead.
Flint and all of Michigan was rolling in money at that time and they
could have afforded to replace the pipes.

Perhaps they opted to have more lead in their pencils instead of dealing
with a serious issue.

Make your stupid comments, but we know that two Democrat mayors let the problem slide
right on by.
